Russia to Aid Sudan’s Nuclear Ambitions

Sudan’s nuclear power ambitions just received a boost with the signing of a deal with Russia. The two countries signed a new agreement on the use of civilian nuclear power.

The agreement covers, among other things, the establishment of a nuclear power plant of 150 MW capacity at the Port of Bachayer.

This will be the second nuclear power plant that the two parties are developing together. An agreement signed in December 2017 provides for the construction within eight years of a nuclear station in Khartoum.
