Liberia is accepting expressions of interest from consultants to provide training in social and environmental impact assessments for power sector projects. The government is in the process of starting new power generation projects while rehabilitating others like the Mt. Coffee hydrodam which could increase its current 23 MW generating capacity to 64 MW. In addition, the World Bank pilot project, the Yandohun power plant, was set to be completed in 2013.
The Liberia Electricity Corp. (LEC) will accept expressions of interest until September 27 with LEC contacting the short-listed parties shortly thereafter. The firm chosen will be responsible for providing training as well as resettlement action plans to create in-house capacity to review reports. Employees will be trained in various power sector projects.
