UEGCL Signs MoU with Norwegian Firm for Rural RE

A MoU was signed between Ugandan state utility, Uganda Electricity Generation Co. Ltd. (UEGCL), and Norwegian power company W. Giertsen Energy Solutions for the development of renewable energy projects in the East African country.

Under the MoU, renewable energy projects in rural areas through the establishment of off-grid and mini-grid systems.

UEGCL will also work with Uganda’s Rural Electrification Agency on some of the projects.

The partnership will also explore the option of having pilot off-grid solar solutions targeting mainly community facilities such as health care centers and schools.
