Marubeni has issued notices of expressions of interest to energy developers in South Africa wanting to partner with it to participate in the next phase of the national renewable energy program.
The first call for expressions of interest concerns companies with solar or wind power plant projects, with a capacity between 1 and 200 MW, whose sites have already been determined, but not yet acquired. The company hopes to be able to partner to co-develop the plant.
Another request for expressions of interest was also made by the company, this time to local businesses and companies promoting the economic empowerment of blacks and willing to participate in the program with them. According to Marubeni, the requirements for inclusion of these two types of organization for the next phases of the program could be more important than those currently in force. The closing date for the expressions of interest is scheduled for August 2.
