Emerging Markets Power has received an environmental impact assessment certificate for its wind farm project in Tanzania. The park, to be located in Nala Ward in the Dodoma region, will have a capacity of 100 MW.

The cost of setting it up has been estimated at 300 billion Tanzanian shillings, or more than $130 million.

The certificate was issued by Tanzania’s National Council of Environmental Management. The receipt of the certificate is an important step in the implementation of the project, because it now makes possible the start of construction this year.

The construction of this plant will enable the country to move closer to achieving its goal of increasing its electrical power sixfold, by 2025, from 1,602 MW to 10,000 MW.
