Tanzania’s President Jakaya Kikwete, under pressure over government corruption, has dismissed six ministers after a report showed misallocation of funds in at least seven ministries. The affected ministries include finance, energy, tourism, trade, transport, and health.
The President also said that the ministers’ subordinates and even executives working for state-owned companies would also be held responsible for any embezzled funds. The top two ministries generating the most revenue for the country, energy and tourism, received the most criticism in the Controller and Auditor General’s annual report.
